Today was absolutely miserable, knowing that we had rain all day we decided to leave a little earlier today as the wind was to pick up in the afternoon. We fought both all day. By the end of our 52 miles we were riding into a 20 mph wind with a cold rain and 50 degrees. Miserable. Also of note, by far the majority of the Oregon highways we have ridden on have been very biker friendly with wide shoulders and nicely paved. However, the stretch of HWY 101 between Rockaway Beach and Tillamook were some of the worst roads I've ridden on anywhere, ever, in the whole world, even on other planets...I'm talking about rocks the size of golf balls on top of a surface that makes chip seal seem like glass. That was the point of the ride where the winds picked up and so did the rain.
