The start of the big climb. It's really unfortunate that it has done nothing but rain all day today. The stretch of 101 from Cannon Beach to Manzanita is perhaps the most beautiful stretch of highway the world has to offer. You definitely recognize the Lord's fingerprint all over this place. From the highway you can see pristine beaches below, enormous waves breaking out on the ocean and this is all contrasted with the rocky cliffs and endless evergreen forests. You wouldn't notice it from a car, but there are delicate white and yellow flowers blooming along the roadside. Some of the white ones looked like baby's breath. I wish the weather would have been better, it's really hard to take pictures when you are soaked to the core and your smartphone is buried about 5 layers deep in your clothing. If and when you get to it, your fingers are so wet you can't make the device work. My words simply don't do justice to this place.
